Woking Borough Council - The most bankrupt council in UK history

In our discussions with local residents we have noticed that the details of Woking Borough Council’s bankruptcy are still not well understood by the majority of residents. To combat this we have drafted a document about the bankruptcy covering a lot of information that is not generally discussed… it ended up being 14 pages long. Obviously this is not something most people would feel that comfortable reading through, so instead we are going to provide some leaflets people can quickly read through and a number of hour long online talks about this issue.

We will not be assuming any particular level of understanding for these talks, so some of the details will be fairly basic for some of residents who have kept track of the issue. That said, even the best informed residents we’ve talked to have had gaps in their understanding of this issue and as such we feel that some analysis we can provide may still be useful to them. The overall plan is to make sure everyone who attends has a grasp of the scale of the problem, some of the ideas that haven’t been covered well, the causes, the solutions and the issues with a lot of the communications from the groups involved.

The meetings will have a capacity of 25 people so that if there are questions everyone can ask them. If they are particularly popular we will add additional sessions. We did want to start these lectures on the weekend of the 14th, but since this was the weekend of Mother’s Day we decided to delay the start slightly. The links to the booking pages that are opperational are below and further links to the booking site will be generated when we get an indication of demand.
